Role Purpose

Responsible for developing and promoting clinical epidemiology programs, advancing patient safety and quality as well as optimizing resource utilization by leading system-wide teams and managing personnel as part of the ongoing efforts of the BJC HealthCare Center for Clinical Excellence (CCE).


  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Manages the clinical epidemiology teams within CCE including (e.g. Manger of Clinical Epidemiology, NSQIP Supervisor and Infection Prevention and Epidemiology Consortium) in coordinating the operational work of improving patient safety, reducing preventable harms, and improving outcomes.
  • Works with BJC senior leadership in the HSOs and CCE leadership to appropriately scope and plan projects and interventions requiring the assistance of CCE clinical resources.
  • Provides direction for the development of epidemiologic studies as appropriate to manage risk to patients, improve outcomes and make the best use of resources across BJC.
  • Provides leadership support to the Infection Prevention, Evidence Based Care and NSQIP managers, supervisors and staff.
